Hopesalive Initiative For Africa and French Embassy Collaborate for Successful Conclusion of 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
In a remarkable display of solidarity and commitment, the Hopesalive Initiative for Africa collaborated with the French Embassy to organize a highly successful 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which ran from November 25th to December 10th. The initiative aimed to raise awareness, advocate for change, and promote gender equality across the African continent.
Under the theme “Unite For Equality” Investing in Safety, Dignity and Justice, the campaign brought together individuals, organizations, and communities from various parts of Lagos state to address the pressing issue of gender-based violence. The campaign featured thought-provoking discussions, lectures, storytelling and dramas aimed to educate students, schools and communities on the importance of gender equality and the detrimental effects of violence against women and girls. Experts, activists, and survivors shared their experiences, providing valuable insights and inspiring others to take a stand against gender-based violence.
Highlighting the importance of addressing gender-based violence from homes, schools and churches. Her Regal Majesty Olori Amb Dr. Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, the wife of the Ooni Of Ife and the Deputy convener of Hopesalive initiative for Africa urged parents to create great bonds with their children in order to ease effective communication when it comes to speaking out on gender-based violence. She noted the need for organizing this campaign in schools, which aimed to educate the children and teenagers from the very young age, to empower them with the right knowledge and information to take action and work towards gender-based violence.
Her Regal Majesty also, acknowledged the entire team of Hopesalive Initiative for Africa and the French Embassy for their efforts in working tirelessly to raise awareness about the prevalence and devastating impact of gender-based violence through various platforms, including social media, public forums, and community outreach programs.
