Spotify Names Davido and Omah Lay’s “With You” Most Shared Nigerian Song of 2025

Spotify has named “With You”, the collaboration between Nigerian superstars Davido (David Adeleke) and Omah Lay, as the most shared Nigerian song of 2025, according to its latest Spotify Wrapped Nigeria 2025 data.

The streaming platform disclosed that the track topped its list of the most forwarded and reposted Nigerian songs across both private and public digital spaces, reflecting how deeply music continues to shape social interaction among Nigerians. Data from Spotify showed that the song travelled widely through messaging apps, social media platforms and story feeds, emerging as a dominant soundtrack for digital connection throughout the year.

According to Spotify, the trend highlights music’s role as a powerful social connector, with Nigerians increasingly using songs as a form of expression and communication. The platform noted that sharing music has become a way for listeners to convey emotion and presence without words, describing it as a “personal handshake in song form.”

Rema’s “Fun” secured the second position, gaining significant traction on Snapchat and Instagram, where music sharing is closely linked to personal identity and self-expression. Spotify noted that listeners shared the song less through private messages and more through public-facing platforms, using it as a reflection of mood and personality.

Burna Boy’s “Love” ranked third, spreading rapidly across Snapchat, Instagram Stories and WhatsApp, where it became a favourite in group chats and social feeds. Listeners said the song carried a sense of shared emotional warmth, allowing users to express affection and connection in digital spaces.

Faith-based songs also featured prominently on the list. Lawrence Oyor’s “Favour” placed fourth, while “No Turning Back II” by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor ranked fifth. Spotify noted that the strong performance of gospel tracks underscored the role of spirituality in Nigeria’s everyday digital culture, with the songs widely shared via WhatsApp groups, SMS messages and story posts for encouragement and reassurance.

Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped data further revealed a significant rise in social listening across Nigeria. Features such as BlendFriends Mix, and collaborative playlists evolved from complementary tools into shared rituals. Jam sessions increased by 145 per cent in 2025 compared to 2024, as friends, couples, creative teams and workplaces embraced real-time listening as a new form of bonding.

Industry observers noted that the pattern of music sharing explains why certain songs gained faster traction than others. According to them, Nigerians share music not only for entertainment, but to express identity, foster closeness, uplift others and strengthen a sense of belonging.

Spotify concluded that every shared link, forwarded song or story post in 2025 pointed to a common narrative, music remains a powerful social glue, bridging private and public spaces and reinforcing community in everyday moments.
