On Saturday the 29th, I hosted the maiden edition of my initiative titled
“Be Empowered” An initiative birthed out of my desire to provide women in entrepreneurship the adequate tools and opportunities to start, sustain and scale their businesses.

We received over a thousand applications and my team and I personally vetted each and every business to eventually shortlist 60 candidates, it was an extremely difficult choice as there were so many innovative businesses. From those 60 candidates, it was my honour to then be able to distribute the 40 million naira grant amongst 14 winners.

We’re not stopping there. I’m excited to now be moving into the boot camp stage of this initiative, where those 14 candidates will be put through a 5 week training program teaching them fundamentals of business by experts. This aligns with my vision to equip entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to sustain what they have.

I would like to thank all participants who applied, all attendees who showed up on the day, and the 14 winners. I’d also like to thank the co-founder of Noella Foundation, Seyi Tinubu for his unwavering support and presence on the day.

She went on to thank her team at Noella Foundation for working tirelessly in planning and ensuring the success of “Be Empowered” event.

The success of the maiden edition of “Be Empowered” is just the beginning for Layal and the Noella Foundation. Her work is making a real difference in the lives of women entrepreneurs.

As we celebrate Father’s Day today, it is important to take a moment to honor and appreciate the incredible men who have played a vital role in shaping our lives. Fathers are often the unsung heroes, quietly working behind the scenes to provide love, support, and guidance to their families.

But being a dad is so much more than just being a provider. Dads are our first teachers, teaching us valuable life lessons and instilling in us the values of hard work, perseverance, and integrity. They are our protectors, always ready to defend us from any harm or danger. And most importantly, they are our role models, showing us what it means to be a good person and a responsible member of society.

From teaching us how to ride a bike, to giving us advice on love and life, dads play a crucial role in our development and growth. They are our protectors, our providers, and our biggest supporters.

But often, fathers go unrecognized for all that they do. They work tirelessly to provide for their families, sacrificing their own needs and desires for the ones they love. They are the silent heroes who never ask for recognition, but deserve it more than anyone.

This Father’s Day, let’s make sure to show our dads just how much they mean to us. Whether it’s a simple gesture like a heartfelt card or a thoughtful gift, or a grand gesture like a special outing or a family gathering, there are countless ways to celebrate the fathers in our lives.

One way to show appreciation is by spending quality time with your dad. Whether it’s going for a hike, watching his favorite sports game together, or simply having a meal together, the gift of time is priceless. Another way to celebrate is by giving a thoughtful gift that reflects his interests and hobbies, whether it’s a new gadget, a book by his favorite author, or a personalized item.

It’s also important to express your gratitude and love for your dad. Take the time to write a heartfelt message or share a memory that highlights the impact he has had on your life. Let him know how much you appreciate all that he does and how much he means to you.

So this Father’s Day, let’s make sure to celebrate the amazing fathers in our lives. Let’s show them how much we love and appreciate them, and let’s make sure they know just how special they are. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there – you are truly our heroes.

To all the dads out there – we see you, we appreciate you, and we love you. Happy Father’s Day.
