Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has called on world leaders to strengthen global cooperation and embrace artificial intelligence and digital transformation as essential tools for sustainable development. He delivered the message at the World Economic Forum 2026, where policymakers, business leaders, and innovators gathered to address rising economic and social pressures.
The world, he said, now faces major challenges on its development path. Economic uncertainty continues to disrupt markets. Climate risks also threaten stability. At the same time, new technologies rapidly reshape how nations work, trade, and govern.
However, President El-Sisi believes these changes also present rare opportunities.
“Our world today faces monumental challenges on the development path,” he said. “Yet these transformations allow us to seize opportunities for the good and mutual benefit of our nations.”
He stressed that countries must move beyond narrow interests. Instead, they should build stronger partnerships that promote shared growth and long-term stability. According to him, cooperation now plays a central role in overcoming modern development barriers.

Moreover, he highlighted the growing importance of innovative tools such as digital platforms and AI applications. These technologies, he explained, can improve public services, expand access to education, modernize healthcare systems, and increase productivity across key sectors.
In addition, he urged governments to invest in digital skills and infrastructure. Doing so, he said, would help emerging economies compete globally while reducing inequality at home.
Across Africa and other developing regions, digital transformation already drives new business models and job creation. Startups attract international capital. Governments also deploy technology to improve transparency and service delivery. As a result, the continent continues to gain relevance in global economic discussions.
President El-Sisi noted that inclusive innovation requires joint action between governments, private companies, and international institutions. Without cooperation, he warned, technological progress could widen existing gaps between nations.
Therefore, he called for policies that balance innovation with social responsibility. He also encouraged leaders to treat technology as a bridge, not a barrier.
As discussions continue at the World Economic Forum 2026, his remarks reinforce a growing consensus that the future of development will depend on collaboration rather than competition.
President El-Sisi urged nations to act with urgency and unity.
