Nairobi Fashion Week 2026: Nairobi Positions Itself as Africa’s Next Sustainable FashionCapital

Nairobi Fashion Week (NFW) will return from January 28 to 31, 2026, with its eighth edition themed “Decarbonize,” placing sustainability, ethical production, and climate-conscious design at the center of Africa’s fashion industry.

The four-day event will bring together Kenyan and international designers to showcase collections built on slow fashion principles, circular design, and responsible sourcing. Organisers say the 2026 edition reflects a growing shift toward environmental accountability within the global fashion sector, with African creatives increasingly leading the conversation.

Participating Kenyan brands include Maisha by Nisia, Studio Lola, VAST, Molivian, A Touch of Kenya, and Kitu Kidzo, while international designers such as Naaniya (France), Yevana (Sri Lanka), Wanni Fuga (Nigeria), Bizarre Savage Couture (Germany), and Aci Nod (USA) will also present their collections.

Creative Director Brian Kihindas said the theme goes beyond aesthetics.

“Decarbonize challenges designers and audiences to think about how fashion impacts the planet. We want to promote creativity that respects communities, resources, and the future.”

In addition to runway shows, the event will feature panel discussions on sustainability and innovation, designer marketplaces, and retail showcases aimed at strengthening connections between brands, consumers, and industry stakeholders.

Now in its eighth season, Nairobi Fashion Week has grown into one of East Africa’s leading fashion platforms, supporting African designers while promoting craftsmanship, cultural storytelling, and responsible growth.

Organisers say the 2026 edition will further position Nairobi as a rising hub for sustainable fashion in Africa, as designers continue to adopt upcycling, ethical labour practices, and climate-smart materials.
