President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a compelling New Year message, urging Ghanaians to rise above partisan politics and unite under a shared national identity as the country enters 2026. Addressing the nation, President Mahama emphasized that Ghana is one nation, regardless of political affiliations, stating:
“Whether you voted for me or not, whether you supported the NDC or not, we are all Ghanaians. This reset agenda is for all of us. There is no NPP Ghana, CPP Ghana, or NDC Ghana, there is only one Ghana.”
In his address, the President painted a vision of a prosperous Ghana where every child, regardless of background, can dream and achieve those dreams. He highlighted the importance of integrity, opportunity, and respect for the vulnerable, underscoring that corruption should have no place in national development.

“Let us compete in the marketplace of ideas, disagree without being disagreeable, and focus on the opportunities before us, which are too precious to waste in needless conflict,” he said, calling for collaboration in nation-building.
President Mahama also highlighted key milestones in Ghana’s economic recovery. The government has successfully renegotiated national debt in a manner that preserves sovereignty and ensures long-term sustainability. He further revealed that Ghana is beginning the process of exiting the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, framing the move as a dignified step taken as an equal partner rather than as a dependent.
“Ghanaians should remain hopeful and united as the country continues on its path of recovery and growth in the new year,” President Mahama added.
The President’s message was a rallying cry for unity, urging citizens to look beyond political divides and focus on building a strong, democratic, and globally respected Ghana. He stressed that 2026 is a year to advance on the foundations laid by previous generations and to fulfill the promise and prophecy of Ghana’s founding fathers and mothers.
“May God bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong. Happy New Year! May 2026 bring prosperity, peace, and progress for all Ghanaians,” he concluded.
