The 8th Ghana CEO Summit and CEO Excellence Award: Rewarding Excellence in Business Leadership
The 8th Ghana CEO Summit, the annual business leadership conference held at the prestigious Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra Ghana on May 27, 2024, brought in over 500 top CEOs, heads of state, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and policymakers from West Africa and around the world, to explore innovative solutions and strategies for reigniting business and economic growth in the country.
This year’s event was held under the theme “Reigniting Business and Economic Growth: Charting A Path Forward; Economic Diversification and Artificial Intelligence Transformation. A Private-Public Sector CEO Dialogue and High Impact Learning.”

Notable attendees included former President John Mahama, who was present at the event, and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. Both discussed topics including economic agenda resetting, private sector development, economic growth, diversification, digitalization, and AI, which were highlights of the summit.
Ernest De-Graft Egyir, Chief Executive Officer of the CEO Network Ghana, highlighted the need for dialogue and partnership between CEOs from both sectors. He emphasized that collaboration is essential for leveraging the strengths of each sector and creating actionable insights for economic resurgence.
Mr. Egyir stressed the importance of embracing digital technologies and innovation to drive economic growth and competitiveness. He urged CEOs to think strategically and creatively about how to harness the power of technology to transform their businesses and drive sustainable growth.
The AI transformation session, led by the founder of WHY AI Agency, Antanas Bernatonis, delved into the advantages of AI, sharing real-life case studies and examining its transformative potential in business.
Mr. Antanas highlighted how AI is reshaping industries, creating new opportunities, and driving innovation.
The 8th Ghana CEO Summit honored individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation in their respective industries. Recognized several outstanding CEOs from various industries for their diligence, hard work, and commitment to excellence. These leaders have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, innovative thinking, and a strong dedication to driving their organizations forward in a challenging business environment.
Among the award recipients were CEOs from the Fintech, Media, Government, telecommunications, manufacturing, and technology industries. These leaders have achieved remarkable success in their respective fields also made significant contributions to the overall economic growth of the country.
The CEO and Founder of Margins ID Group, Moses Kwasi Baiden Jnr, was honored as Ghana’s foremost CEO at the 8th CEO Summit. This is a testament to his leadership, vision, and dedication to excellence. As he continues to lead the Margins Group to new heights.
Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the director of the Ghana Health Service, was also recognized for his outstanding leadership in the healthcare sector. He received award of the best CEO, Health Care, Public sector.
In the fintech sector, Shaibu Haruna, CEO of Mobile Money Ltd, was awarded the prestigious CEO of the year award. Haruna’s innovative approach to financial technology has revolutionized the way people in Ghana manage their finances, making him a standout leader in the industry.
The CEO of the year in Media-Television was awarded to Beatrice Agyemang, the Group CEO of Media General. Her leadership and vision have propelled Media General to new heights in the television industry, making her a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
Another standout winner was Julie Essiam, the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), who received the Public Sector Award for Tax Governance. Ms. Essiam’s dedication to improving tax compliance and governance in Ghana has not gone unnoticed, and her award is a testament to her hard work and commitment to excellence.
Dr. Emmanuel Okeleji, the CEO and Co-Founder of a leading HR technology company, was also recognized for his outstanding leadership and innovation in the field of HR technology. Dr. Okeleji’s company has revolutionized the way businesses manage their human resources, making him a deserving winner of the Multinational CEO of the year award in HR technology.
Gideon Asare, CEO of Adansi Travels, was named the best CEO in the travel and tours sector. Asare’s dedication to providing top-notch services and creating unforgettable experiences for his clients has set him apart in the industry.
The prestigious award for Maritime and Trade CEO of the Year was received by Dr. Nick Danso Adjei, the executive chairman of Trade Facilitation Company, Ghana Links Network Services Ltd. For his outstanding leadership and innovative strategies in the maritime and trade sector. The Minister of Public Enterprises, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, also received the coveted Minister of the Year award.
Mr. John Boadu, Director General of the state interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), was also honored with the Public Leadership Award for his exemplary leadership and commitment to driving positive change in the public sector.
Dr. Godwin Acquaye, Chief Executive Officer of The Business and Financial Times (B & FT), was recognized as the CEO of the Year in print media for his outstanding contributions to the media industry and his innovative approach to business journalism.
The Executive Chairman of the KGL Group, Alex Apau Dadey, was also honored at the summit, receiving the prestigious CEO of the Year award in the private sector. Mr. Dadey’s leadership and vision have been instrumental in the success of the KGL Group, a leading player in the Ghanaian business landscape.
Among the esteemed honorees was Patricia Obo-Nai, CEO of Telecel Ghana, who was awarded the prestigious title of CEO of the year in the Telecommunications sector.
Angela List, CEO of Adamus Resources and Nguvu Mining Ltd, awarded as the best female CEO in Ghana’s mining industry.
Another standout winner at the summit was Mr Samuel Amanor, CEO of BlueSpace Financial Cloud, who was awarded the CEO Leadership Excellence Award for Excellence in Technology Solutions.
Osafohene Dr Afua Asabea Asare I, CEO of gepa Ghana, was also recognized at the summit as the CEO of the year in the Export-Trade Sector. Dr Asare’s leadership in promoting Ghanaian exports and trade has been instrumental in driving economic growth and development in the country.
Brent Nartey The CEO of Engen Ghana was awarded the CEO Leadership Excellence Award in the Oil Marketing Sector.
