Tamunosoye Karibi-George emerged as Miss World Nigeria 2026 after an intense and inspiring finale held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. The event brought together 20 exceptional contestants from across the country and celebrated beauty, leadership, intelligence, and social impact under the theme “Pride, Power, and Purpose.”
The 26-year-old beauty queen, who hails from Port Harcourt in Rivers State and represented Bayelsa State during the competition, captured the attention of judges throughout the week-long contest. Her confidence, advocacy, leadership qualities, and stage presence ultimately secured her victory in one of Nigeria’s most prestigious pageants.
Organized by the Silverbird Group, the Miss World Nigeria competition continues to evolve beyond traditional beauty standards. Contestants participated in leadership development sessions, community engagement projects, public speaking exercises, and advocacy-driven activities before stepping onto the grand stage.
As anticipation built throughout the evening, guests watched finalists compete across several categories designed to evaluate intelligence, purpose, and character. When the final scores were announced, Tamunosoye Karibi-George stood above the competition and claimed the coveted national crown.

Her victory marks another milestone in an already remarkable pageant career. In December 2024, she represented Nigeria at the Miss Africa International competition in Accra, Ghana, where she won the continental title. That international experience now places her in a strong position as she prepares for an even bigger global challenge.
Tamunosoye succeeds Joy Mojisola Raimi, who represented Nigeria at the 72nd Miss World pageant in Hyderabad, India. Raimi delivered an impressive performance by reaching the Top 20 globally and securing a place among the Top 5 African contestants, setting a high standard for her successor.

According to Guy Murray-Bruce, President of Silverbird Group and National Director of Miss World Nigeria, the platform remains focused on empowering young Nigerian women to become leaders and agents of positive change. The organization continues to prioritize purpose-driven contestants who can inspire communities while representing Nigeria internationally.
Now, the spotlight shifts to Vietnam.
Tamunosoye Karibi-George will carry Nigeria’s hopes to the 73rd Miss World Festival, which also marks the pageant’s 75th anniversary celebration. The competition will take place from August 9 to September 5, 2026, with contestants from around the world gathering in Ho Chi Minh City for the grand finale.
She also carries the legacy of Nigeria’s greatest pageant success story. In 2001, Agbani Darego made history by becoming the first Black African woman to win the Miss World crown, a landmark achievement that transformed Africa’s presence in global beauty competitions.
As preparations begin for Vietnam, many Nigerians believe Tamunosoye possesses the experience, poise, and international exposure needed to make another strong statement for the country on the world stage.

With a growing record of achievements and a platform built on leadership and impact, Nigeria’s newest queen now faces the opportunity of turning national success into global recognition.
