TTYBrand Africa Unveils Building Legacies Issue with Yibrah Tesfazghi Cover Story

TTYBrand Africa has officially unveiled Issue 14 of its magazine, themed Building Legacies, a special edition dedicated to celebrating the Africans whose leadership, innovation, and vision are creating lasting impact across the continent and beyond.

Every great legacy begins with a decision to make a difference. This latest edition brings together inspiring stories of entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, innovators, and changemakers who are not only achieving success but also creating opportunities, strengthening institutions, and leaving a meaningful mark on future generations.

Gracing the cover of Issue 14 is Yibrah Tesfazghi, one of Africa’s most accomplished corporate leaders. His remarkable journey from a small village in Eritrea to becoming the first Black African to hold a senior regional leadership position within GE International is a story of resilience, integrity, and purpose.

He reflected on the experiences that shaped his leadership journey, the values that guided him throughout nearly four decades at General Electric, and why integrity became the cornerstone of one of GE’s fastest-growing regions. He also shared insights from his memoir, Glass Ceilings & Hidden Walls, discusses the creation of the GE Africa Dream Team, and offers practical advice to young African entrepreneurs and emerging leaders determined to make their mark.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the edition, Betty Buzo the editor in chief said the theme reflects a growing movement across Africa, driven by people who are choosing to build something greater than themselves.

“Building Legacies is more than the theme of this issue. It is a conversation about purpose, impact, and what we choose to leave behind. Across Africa, we continue to witness extraordinary individuals who are building businesses, transforming industries, opening doors for others, and proving that true success is measured by the lives we touch and the future we help create,” she said.

Beyond the cover story, readers will discover compelling features highlighting entrepreneurs, business executives, innovators, and creative leaders from across the continent. Each story reflects TTYBrand Africa’s mission to celebrate African excellence, amplify authentic voices, and showcase the people shaping Africa’s future through innovation, resilience, and purposeful leadership.

Issue 14 also explores conversations around entrepreneurship, ethical leadership, institutional building, innovation, and sustainable impact, offering valuable lessons for aspiring leaders, professionals, and business owners.

Since its launch, TTYBrand Africa magazine has remained committed to changing the narrative about Africa by telling stories that inspire, educate, and celebrate the continent’s greatest asset; its people. With every edition, the publication continues to shine a spotlight on Africans whose ideas, leadership, and achievements are influencing industries and inspiring a new generation.

Africa’s greatest untapped opportunities over the next decade lie in transforming structural constraints into platforms for scalable growth. As I reflect in Glass Ceilings & Hidden Walls, the continent’s real advantage is not scarcity, but latent capacity; particularly in its youth, resources, and rapidly evolving markets. First is industrial value addition: shifting from exporting raw materials to building localized manufacturing and regional value chains. Second is digital and financial inclusion, where mobile infrastructure can leapfrog traditional systems and unlock mass entrepreneurship.
